POSTAL CLASSES OVERVIEW-TYPES OF POSTAGE

- There are 4 types of postage payments
- Meter- postage will be affixed using a meter machine. Permit can be the client’s or mailer’s
- Stamp- stamps for the denomination need to be purchased from P.O. and affixed to mailpiece. Permits can either be client’s or mailer’s.
- Permit imprint-mail piece can come to mailer with client permit information on piece or mailer can affix their permit imprint to mail piece.
- Company Permit- This will have the company or organization’s name in the indicia in place of a permit number. To open this type of permit, a letter on their letterhead and a sample of the mail piece will have to be presented to the post office at the time the permit is opened.
- When mailing all non-profit mail, authorization must be on file at the P.O. before the mailing.
